About us

Norwegian medical doctors are obliged to adhere to more than 5000 pages of guidelines, which are updated regularly. Given such a high flow of information, it is difficult to stay updated.

KBB Medic AS was founded by pulmonologists and IT experts. What we do: Since 2013 we have been developing IT platforms for health information and clinical decision support. Our first tool was the COPD Calculator.

Comprehensive guidelines

Norwegian doctors must adhere to more than 5000 pages of guidelines. These guidelines are updated regularly making it difficult to stay updated. If we use chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as an example, the current Norwegian guidelines for prevention, diagnosis and follow-up alone is a lengthy 173 pages document.

Clinical decision support tool

We have developed an online tool for the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of COPD patients. The tool has been well received by Norwegian doctors, as it saves time and quality assures the treatment. The tool has been used more than 28,000 times by Norwegian doctors as of October 2019.

Our vision

Our vision is to improve people's health around the world. We will achieve this by developing clinical decision support tools aimed at major chronic disease groups such as asthma, cold, migraine, blood pressure, heart failure, diabetes, osteoporosis and pain. The tools must comply with international guidelines, be updated continuously. Our aim is to make our tools available in multiple languages.

In cooperation with:

There was almost a hallelujah feeling among my colleagues when the tool was presented to us.
So easy to use, and so user friendly!

Øyvind Øygard Skodvin, general practitioner

Diagnostic tool

Our clinical decision support tools help doctors to verify that the diagnose is correct and present tailored treatment recommendations according to current guidelines. Finally, the tools provide a summary of the diagnosis, the selected treatments and the recommendations applicable for the presented case. This summary may be copied and used in a patient file, which may be time saving for the doctor.

Always updated

Medical guidelines are updated regularly. More often than not, these documents increase in size with addition of the latest clinical research.
Our tools are developed and maintained by medical specialists in the field. We strive always to be up to date.

Easy to use

We strive to make our products user friendly with the goal that medical doctor should save time using clinical decision support tools. Our tools guides the physician intuitively through each step using recommended parameters in the assessments.

Disclosure statement

Every effort is taken to ensure that the information published on this website and in our clinical decision making tools are accurate, kept up to date, and that different treatment options are presented in a neutral manner.

Patient oriented tools

Patients need information about how to treat and how to manage their own illnesses. KBB Medic are developing patient tools in all our focus areas. Together with the Norwegian heart and lung association we launched a risk stratification calculator for COPD in 2017 together with an interactive tool giving an overview of available treatment.

Risk stratification

The patient tool gives an assessment of the risk of developing COPD and in which case gives the advice to see a physician.

Treatment checker

Patients are assessed whether the treatment they currently are receiving is appropriate according to current guidelines. At the same time, they get an overview of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment.
